About the Blog
This blog is intended to supplement a book on rooftop agriculture that will be published by New Society Publishers in spring 2013. Current rooftop farming and gardening initiatives are highlighted, along with discourse, interview excerpts, and photos taken by the author on location. Relevant lectures, events, and publications are also posted, as well as updates on my path to publication. The actual meat of the book will not be posted, so keep your fingers ready for some real content when the books come out in print!
About the Book
EAT UP | the inside scoop on rooftop agriculture provides a practitioner’s view of how to turn dreams of rooftop farms and gardens into actual spaces that feed people. The book provides useful insider information geared toward three scales of production: rooftop gardens, rooftop farms, and the rooftop agriculture industry. Analysis, tips, and interviews with industry leaders are enhanced by photographs of inspirational rooftop farms and growers throughout North America. Each photograph is taken on location by either the author or a contributing photographer, and select portraits will be available for purchase after publication at the book’s Roof to Table launch events.
New Society Publishers, a carbon-neutral publishing house in British Columbia, will release EAT UP in Canada and the U.S. during the spring 2013 season, with an e-book to follow. Expanded distribution in other English-speaking countries may occur at a later date, as will potential translations. EAT UP is poised to be the first book ever published to exclusively focus on rooftop agriculture.
